Does it work?: A multi-year assessment of insecticide resistance in diamondback moth in California

Diamondback moth is the key pest in cole crop production in California. This pest has become extremely difficult to manage, likely due to insecticide resistance. We conducted a multi-year study examining insecticide resistance in this pest. We collected multiple populations of diamondback moth and then reared them in the greenhouse to obtain sufficient individuals for bioassays. We assessed resistance to six different materials. We found that susceptibility was variable across materials and locations, but some materials had clear patterns of insecticide resistance. Management of this key pest must take insecticide resistance management into account to protect the efficacy of the remaining materials.
