Research Scientist II - Genetics R&D Lead EnviroFlight Apex, North Carolina
One of the overarching goals the Genetics R&D program at EnviroFlight is to create elite black soldier fly (BSF) (Hermetia illucens) populations that meet target values for the commercial production of our insect ingredients. Identifying desirable traits throughout the life history of the BSF will help track phenotypes and aid in the selection of individuals for breeding. Further, biomarker development plays a crucial role in providing valuable insights in the genetic traits and overall health of the insects reared for animal feed. This presentation will discuss potential biomarkers for studying various biological processes important in the farming of BSF.
