(1st Place) Kr-h1 mediated negative feedback mechanism of juvenile hormone biosynthesis

Juvenile hormones (JH) modulate many physiological transitions including metamorphosis, diapause, and reproduction. JH is produced in endocrine gland called corpora allata (CA), and its titer is tightly regulated by the control of JH biosynthesis pathway. JH biosynthesis is known to be controlled by various neuropeptides and nutrition signaling. Most hormones are known to be controlled by negative feedback pathway, in which the hormone feeds back to decrease its own production. However, whether there is any negative feedback present in JH biosynthesis pathway is not investigated yet. Here we present that there is indeed a negative feedback mechanism present in JH, and this is mediated by JH response downstream gene, Kr-h1.
