Research Scientist Corteva Agriscience Zionsville, Indiana
Crop protection discovery and development (aka research and development) entails a broad and in-depth interplay of diverse disciplines to innovate and deploy novel natural and/or synthetic active molecules to offer new solutions to growers of diverse crops around the globe. These scientific disciplines include but are not limited to biology (organism, ecosystem, and cellular/molecular), chemistry (synthetic, analytical, process, formulation), toxicology, computational science, agronomy, and engineering. Amid current global changes and quest for sustainable agricultural intensification, guidelines and strategies for discovering and development of crop protection technologies are dictated by a flux of factors, including public science policy and market trends.
This talk attempts to highlight the interplay between public science policy and research and development of crop protection technologies. Efforts are also made to highlight key virtues that are expected of a research and development scientist aka a business scientist, to make an impactful career in the research and development of crop protection technologies.
