The importance of stakeholder collaboration in pest management cannot be overstated. It is the linchpin for innovative, effective, and sustainable approaches to tackling pest challenges. Stakeholders create a powerful synergy that transcends individual efforts by uniting diverse perspectives, knowledge, and resources. Collaboration is paramount in Integrated Pest Management (IPM), where the complexities of pest ecology, environmental impact, and economic considerations intersect. Stakeholders represent a broad spectrum of expertise, including entomologists, farmers, non-profit organizations, agricultural professionals, policymakers, community leaders, and environmental advocates. Their collective insights lead to holistic solutions that address not only immediate pest issues but also the long-term health of ecosystems and food security. In this presentation, I will delve into the critical role of stakeholder collaboration in IPM, exploring core principles and emphasizing the necessity of sustainable practices. Using case studies in California and Washington State, I will showcase successful community-led initiatives, partnerships, and industry-government alliances that have revolutionized pest control strategies. These examples vividly illustrate the potency of stakeholder collaboration, underscoring its pivotal role in shaping the future of pest management. This presentation aims to inspire a new generation of entomologists to actively participate in stakeholder collaboration for a more sustainable and practical approach to pest management.
