Although Tetranychidae is one of the most studied mite families in North America, it is challenging difficult to identify species using the currently available literature. Our research, based on broad ecological and geographical sampling, indicates that the species diversity of spider mites in Canada is more than double of what the previous literature suggests, passing from ~25 species to over 60 species. New findings and diagnostic problems related to species boundaries will be discussed.
