Professor, Chair Virginia Commonwealth University Richmond, Virginia
A talk by sound artist, Stephen Vitiello, a professor of Kinetic Imaging at Virginia Commonwealth University. Vitiello will speak of his work with field recordings and sound art exhibitions, including recordings with contact microphones affixed to the windows of his studio in the World Trade Center (1999) which lead to opportunities to record in unique environments throughout the world. In 2015, as an artist-in-residence at Mountain Lake Biological Station’s ArtLab, he fortuitously met Dr. Kasey Fowler-Finn and started an ongoing series of collaborations in which art has served science and science has served art.
