A native sand wasp, Bicyrtes quadrifaciatus, can be found as a nuisance pest in golf courses, sand volleyball courts, and other man-made sandy areas. It has been identified using the nymphal life stages of pentatomids and other hemipteran species as prey for its larvae. This research explores the biology of B. quadrifaciatus and its potential as a biological control agent for stink bug pests such as the invasive brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys.
