Sociality in insect behavior garners a special attention regarding both theoretical and practical aspects. Innovative methods on automatic object recognition and complex behavior analyses is giving providing us access to unprecedented amounts of high-quality information especially regarding multi-individual interactions. According to automatic detecting systems we were able to track the time series movement of individuals in groups of Drosophila and Thrips in different strains. Spatio-temporal distribution patterns are illustrated according to machine learning (Geo-SOM) to reveal positional specificity in the observation arena. Subsequently interactive behaviors between individuals including mating, chasing and movement were analyzed by computational methods of convergent cross mapping. Time and space specific observations were characteristically detected according to strains and species during the course of group movements. Usefulness of automatic detection of interactive behaviors of insects is further discussed in developing methodologies for monitoring and management.
