The olfactory and gustatory senses connect insects with their chemical environment, mediating critical behaviors, including host and mate seeking, feeding, and predator avoidance. This symposium focuses on integrative research that employs recent technological advances towards chemosensory topics ranging from gene function to electrophysiology, neuroethology, and chemical ecology. In these introductory remarks, an overview of the symposium and speakers will briefly be presented.
