Introductory remarks

Vector-borne diseases are typically managed by multiple agencies with very little communication between parties. The goal of this symposium is to allow cross-functional experts in public health sectors (e.g., applied epidemiology, public health policy, vector management, industry, academic research, etc.) to have an open discussion that will lead to collaborative efforts between disparate teams. By the end of the symposium, it is our hope that the multi-faceted approach taken to protect public health can be more integrated, with each group of experts understanding the challenges and opportunities presented by other groups.
