Trichogramma spp. (Hymenoptera : Trichogrammatidae) parasitize eggs from several lepidopteran and moth species. They are often used as biological control agents to manage the European corn borer. The objective of this project was to determine if WBC egg masses are naturally parasitized and by which species.
Western bean cutworm is considered as a recent pest in Quebec (Canada). Larvae feed on corn ear and can increase the development of pathogenic fungus and mycotoxins.
Several methods can be used to manage the western bean cutworm. In this study, we evaluate the potential of trichogrammas to manage this pest, reducing the use of pesticides and their risk for environment and health.
