Macreurops longicollis (Horn, 1879) is poorly known species of Monotomidae distributed from southwestern British Columbia south to Baja California. Very little has been published on its life history, distribution, or taxonomy since it was placed in this genus in 1916. Herein we will discuss investigations into its biology through multiple avenues, including museum specimens, citizen science, dissections, detailed morphological investigation, and more. Finally, we will discuss plans to investigate the placement of this species in the broader monotomid tree of life through molecular methods.
