Japan is well known for having insects in many aspects of its culture. I will review some of the interesting new elements of insects in Japanese culture, such as new animation films, insect hotels, and “gacha-gacha” gum-ball machines. The talk may be of interest to anyone interested in entomology in Japan and those that may be attending the International Congress of Entomology in Kyoto next summer.
