Bumble bees are an essential component of natural ecosystems and play a crucial role in commercial pollination. Unfortunately, several species of the subgenus Bombus sensu stricto (Hymenoptera: Apidae), such as B. affinis, and B. franklini are facing a severe decline and they are currently classified as critically endangered due to factors like parasites, pesticides, climate change, and habitat loss. This alarming situation has sparked an interest in the evolution of Bombus s.str, leading to the need for a better understanding of their evolutionary history. In this study, we conducted the first Phylogenomic study using UCEs, which enabled us to enhance the comprehensive phylogeny for this subgenus and compare it with previous studies that relied on Sanger sequencing data. Additionally, our study sheds light on inferred divergence dates and biogeographic patterns, which can contribute to a better comprehension of the phylogeny of Bombus s.str.
