Program Directors from the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Directorate of Biological Sciences (BIO) will provide a brief overview of funding opportunities to support basic research, education, training, infrastructure, and network building. This presentation will include information on NSF’s priorities, BIO’s Core Programs, and cross-cutting programs relevant to entomologists.
NSF BIO provides many funding opportunities at all career stages to advance understanding of the principles and mechanisms governing life. Research studies extend across systems that encompass biological molecules, cells, tissues, organs, organisms, populations, communities, and ecosystems up to and including the global biosphere. Topic breadth of NSF BIO is wide ranging and can include ecology, evolution, systematics, biodiversity, behavior, development, physiology, biomechanics, neural systems, and plant biotic interactions.
