My journey from academia to industry

As part of the symposium on Roles of Entomologists in Industry, I will outline the 'instars' of my career progression over 15 years from academia, to Federal government service, to my current role in industry.  I will highlight the various key points in that journey, including participating in various extensions of the roles that helped accelrate both growth within the job and helped to set up networks, skills, and key contacts that enabled the next steps of the career journey.  The goal of the presentaiton is to share, through the backward lens, those steps that I feel are most important for students and early-career professionals to consider not only as entomologists but as professionals looking to perhaps step outside of the more traditional acaademic path that many of us consider first and foremost as students.
