State wildlife agencies play a primary role in the management and conservation of wildlife in the United States, which includes many insect species. As we face the challenge of documenting and curbing insect biodiversity loss, states are assessing species vulnerability and identifying conservation priorities. To support research and conservation actions, state wildlife agencies use a variety of resources and the newest funding opportunity on the horizon, Recovering America’s Wildlife Act could be a once in generation opportunity to conserve insects in the coming decades. The role of state wildlife agencies in insect conservation will be discussed as well as ongoing opportunities for engagement and collaboration with the entomological community.
