Millions of hectares of existing energy and transportation service rights-of-way (ROW) criss-cross private, public and tribal nation lands. Vegetation on these existing corridors, and on additional ROW needed to bring clean energy to market, must be maintained for safety, access and service reliability. Often vegetation is introduced and established to meet soil conservation and erosion control regulations but not with pollinator habitat in mind. This poster explores the potential of releasing the native seed bank to provide necessary vegetative cover and limiting introduced grasses while using integrated vegetation management (IVM) techniques to control non-native invasive plants to stabilize soils and improve pollinator habitat. With proper education and implementation of best vegetation management practices, we can improve our nation's infrastructure and restore pollinator habitat on millions of hectares of land.
