D3383: Nanoparticles applications in entomology

Matter that is between 1-100 nm is called nanoparticles. Nanoparticles have the potential to become an integral part of IPM (Integrate Pest Management). This is because nanoparticles have larger surface area and the ability to use less active ingredient. The use of nanotechnology in entomology may lead to pesticide delivery systems that have slower releases with more efficient targeting. They may help advance pesticide application to target specific pests while avoiding nontarget organisms more accurately. Thus, in this presentation, we will discuss the potential use of nanotechnology as another tool to help lessen the impact of insect attack.
