D3003: (1st Place) On the right track: Slowing the spread of spotted lanternfly

Spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) is an invasive species in the United States and native to China. It was first detected in Pennsylvania in 2014 and has since spread by way of human transit of infested material, especially trains. Tree-of-heaven is one of spotted lanternfly’s preferred hosts, though it feeds on a wide variety of plants. Fruits, wine, and ornamental plants sustain damage through spotted lanternfly feeding as well as honeydew excretion which fosters mold growth. It is also a major concern for homeowners as a nuisance pest. This infographic aims to inform stakeholders and frontline workers on how to identify spotted lanternfly, understand its movement, and what they can do to stop spotted lanternfly in its tracks. Together, we can mitigate the spotted lanternfly invasion.
