Psocids, sometimes called barklice or booklice, are small insects in the order Psocodea. They are cousins to the true parasitic lice, but are detritivores or grazers and often overlooked because of their small size and lack of economic importance. Some psocids, however, are pests of stored grain and have been implicated as indoor allergens. Basic biology, such as distribution and phenology, is missing for most species. Adult winged psocids were collected using three blacklight traps which were run weekly during April–September 2022 in the Clemson University Experimental Forest, South Carolina, USA. Specimens were photographed, identified, and databased. This research will contribute to the species distribution and phenology of psocids in South Carolina.
