D3450: Wireworm species of Vermont: Identification and report

Wireworms are soil-dwelling pests that can cause serious damage to root-crops. In Vermont, their impact on agriculture is of great concern. This study aimed to identify the wireworm species present in Vermont and to report on their distribution. A survey was conducted across several farms in Vermont, and wireworm specimens were collected and identified using morphological and molecular techniques. The results showed that multiple species of wireworms are present in Vermont, including the common wireworm (Limonius spp.). The findings of this study provide valuable information for farmers and researchers in Vermont, and will aid in the development of effective strategies for wireworm control.
