D3318: Reassessing mating disruption for codling moth (Cydia Pomonella) in non-compliant apple blocks

Codling moth is a key pest in apples in the USA. A commonly used management tactic for this species is deploying mating disruption within apple blocks. Mating disruption products contain codlemone which disrupts males from finding female moths, however these products are not recommended for smaller, non-isolated, non-uniform apple blocks. Here we assessed the efficacy of mating disruption in blocks that do not comply with recommendations, and combined this technique with threshold sprays. The dispersal capacity of gravid female C. pomonella was also quantified.
